H to the E to the A to the L to the T to the H!

Health today is something that our generation totally takes for granted. We don't think twice about eating bags of Cheetos while watching TV, and we count a large order of french fries as "lunch". Most of us get no exercise at all (I'm guilty). So it's properly fitting that TMA would take time to educate us on it via this July's major culminating activity, Nutrition Day.

I would love to write about the other events, such as the Cooking Contest, but unfortunately that was a contest between the elementary, and this is a HIGH SCHOOL blog. So apparently, I have to write about the Jingle Contest.

The Jingle Contest is basically a competition in which all high school levels choose a song (or two) and change the lyrics into a message that promotes health and nutrition and rejects obesity and er...unhealthiness. All the levels have been practicing for weeks, and so they were excited to show the school what they've got. The Grade Seven students started the event with a medley of Justin Bieber-derived songs (such as "Baby", "One Less Lonely Girl", and "Never Say Never" - ew). The freshmen then followed it up with a mash-up of this K-Pop song that I don't know and JB's "Baby" (WHY DOES TMA HAVE A LOT OF BELIEBERS?), headed of course by Beaver's lookalike, Elijah Villa. The sophomores then delivered an amazing show, complete with great dance moves, AutoTuned voices, and great lip-syncing. The juniors, on the other hand, did a cute and funny medley of the Jonas Brothers' viral single "Bounce" and Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby". The seniors ended the contest with a live (read: no instrumental, they used real instruments) mash-up of Kamikaze's "Narda" and Journey's "Don't Stop Believing". They won 3rd place, while the 7th graders won second place. And the first place goes to the 3rd Year class! Congratulations to all winners! :))

The event was closed by the swearing-in of the Student Council by Miss Cristy, which pretty much makes us official. BTW, there's gonna be a meeting this Friday, so yeah. :D
